What we hold about you, why, how long for, and what you can ask us to do about it. Written to be read, not to be scrolled past.

This website sets no cookies and does not track you
There is no analytics, no advertising pixel, no embedded map, no social media widget and no font loaded from anyone else's server. Every file this page needs comes from this domain. Nothing is stored on your device and nothing about your visit is shared with a third party.
Answering the quote questions sends us nothing. The calculator runs entirely in your browser, and no information leaves your device unless you fill in the contact box at the end and press send. If you look at the price and close the tab, we never know you were here.
That is why there is no cookie banner. There is nothing to consent to.
Our web host keeps standard server logs — the sort every web server keeps — recording the requested page, the time, and the visiting IP address. They are used to keep the site running and secure, and for nothing else.

We do not collect anything we do not need, we do not build a marketing profile, and we do not ask for anything sensitive.
Where it is kept
Customer and job records are held in our own job-management system. The records are encrypted — the file is protected with AES-256 encryption and a passphrase held only by us, so the information cannot be read even by someone who obtains a copy of the file.
Where records are synchronised between our devices, they are encrypted on the device before being sent, and the service that carries them stores nothing but an unreadable block of ciphertext. It cannot read your details, and neither can anyone who gains access to it.
Who else sees it
- Our accountant — invoices and payment records, for preparing accounts and tax returns
- Our email provider — anything you send us by email, in the ordinary course of delivering it
- Our web host — server logs, as described above
- Cloudflare — carries and briefly stores quote requests made through this website, on our behalf and under our instructions, until we collect them
- Building control or a registered third-party certifier — your address and the details of the work, where a job is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations. This is a legal requirement and it is how you get your compliance certificate
- HMRC, and anyone else we are legally required to tell
That is the complete list. We do not sell your information, we do not share it for marketing, and we do not pass it to lead-generation companies.
How long we keep it
- Quote requests from the website — held for up to 90 days and then deleted automatically, whether or not we speak
- Enquiries that did not become jobs — 12 months, then deleted
- Job, invoice and payment records — until at least five years after the 31 January following the tax year they relate to, which is what HMRC requires of a sole trader
- Test certificates and condition reports — kept for the life of the installation, because you or a future owner may need a copy
- Photographs of work — kept while they are useful as a record. Any photograph published on this website is published only with the customer's agreement, and never shows a house number, a vehicle registration or anything else identifying the address
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask what we hold about you, and get a copy — free, normally within one month
- Have mistakes corrected
- Have information erased, where we do not have a legal reason to keep it
- Restrict what we do with it while a dispute about accuracy is sorted out
- Object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests — including the maintenance reminders, which you can stop at any time
- Ask for it in a portable format

Tell us first and we will try to put it right. If you are still not satisfied you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office:

A note about CCTV we install for you
When we install a CCTV system at your property, you become responsible for the footage it records — not us. We do not have access to your recordings, we do not hold them, and we cannot retrieve them for you.
If your cameras capture anything outside your own boundary, data protection law applies to you as the system's owner. It is not onerous, but it is worth understanding. We have written a plain-English guide: Home CCTV and the law.
Changes to this notice
If this notice changes we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information we already hold about you, we will tell you directly.
Before publishing: check every row of the table above actually describes what you do. A privacy notice that describes a business you are not running is worse than no notice at all. Add the ICO registration number once the fee is paid, name your accountant's firm if you would rather be specific, and set the retention period for dead enquiries to whatever you will genuinely stick to.
